Inside: You don't need the expensive organizers. Check out this easy bathroom closet organization on a budget. You can organize on a budget that works for you.
I love looking on Pinterest for decorating and organizationally ideas. It's so much fun to scroll through all the beautiful pictures of perfectly organized homes and closets. Recently, I wanted to organize my bathroom closet a little. We have a small closet in the bathroom that is perfect for our towels, sheets, and extra toiletries. Unfortunately, it was often so cluttered we couldn't even find what we needed.
I went looking on Pinterest for ideas on bathroom or linen closet organization. All the ideas looked amazing, but I knew my closet could never look like most of the pictures. Most of the pictures had perfectly white matching towels and sheets. We don't have matching towels or sheets. I also noticed most of the closets used beautiful baskets, but they were all so expensive. I decided to come up with my own bathroom closet organization on a budget. I didn't want to spend a lot of money just to get the closet organized.
If you want to get your closets organized without breaking the bank check out my easy bathroom closet organization on a budget. Your closets can get organized without spending a lot of money.
Below is a before of my closet. As you can tell it is a big hot mess. It was so hard to see where everything was. I would often buy something at the store only to realize I had it home already.
To start, I took everything out of the closet. I really recommend doing this so you can see what you are working with. The best, most expensive closet organizing won't help you if it doesn't work for you. Once I took everything out I found there were some things I could get rid of. I had some hair gel from years ago when my kiddo wore hair gel. We also had some shaving cream that was way too old and the container it was in was rusting. I threw out a few things and donated a few things.
Once you have everything that you want to keep start making groupings of the different products. I made a hair group, a mouth product group, and a travel sized group on one shelf. I also made a couple smaller groups. Just taking everything out and reorganizing it into groups made such a difference. I then tried leaving everything in the groups for a couple of weeks. You don't want to go buy some organizational stuff only to realize that it doesn't work. Living with it for a while really helps to see if it works.
For my sheets and pool towels, I tried using some old file boxes. This gave me an idea of what sized boxes or bins I would need. Although the filing boxes don't look pretty they worked great to try out for size. They were a perfect fit. If you have some old boxes you want to use you can try some of these easy tips for decorating them that I saw on Pinterest.
When I finally decided to go buy the bins to organize everything I skipped the expensive baskets. If you are trying to organize everything without spending a bunch of money I highly recommend either the dollar store or Ikea. The dollar store usually has plenty of different sized bins and baskets for a dollar. It's a great way to keep things cheap.
We have a new Ikea nearby so I picked up the small white bins below from there. They have them for $2-$4 dollars depending on the size. It made it a really cheap way to organize everything in the closet. Amazon sells them, but they are WAY overpriced on Amazon so I highly recommend going to Ikea to buy them.
You can easily organize using inexpensive bins from the dollar store instead of spending a bunch of money. Over a month or so I bought all the small white bins I needed plus two big boxes for under $30. I love the way my closet looks. The closet feels so organized and it is finally easy to find things. Check out what it looks like now below.
