If there is one area of cleaning that I completely fail at it would be laundry. I am horrible at staying on top of laundry and getting it put away. I usually start the laundry when my husband says he is running low on something. Clothes often sit clean in the clothes basket for days before they get put away. Why do I go days without doing laundry when I insist on vacuuming every day? I just really hate laundry!
As much as I hate doing laundry I have learned quite a few laundry room tips and tricks. I have learned how to take out most stains, even those set in stains because I already laundered them. I have found a great trick to skip the ironing. These tricks and tips will not just save you time, but money too.
Skip the Ironing
It doesn't take long for clean clothes to get wrinkled when you don't put them away. You can skip the ironing and save yourself some time with this DIY wrinkle releaser. Just spray it on and run your hands over the wrinkles to make them disappear. It works great on wrinkled dress clothes that didn't get removed from the dryer right away and is way cheaper than buying the store-brand wrinkle releaser. Forgetting a load of laundry in the dryer is no longer a problem with this simple homemade wrinkle releaser.
Remove Armpit Stains
Don't throw out those armpit stained shirts. You can get them looking normal again by using this easy method. An overnight soak will get your whites looking bright and not the dingy yellow anymore. It's easy to get rid of those yellow armpit stains and it works great! I use this about every six months to keep my t-shirts looking great.
Get Rid Of Mildew
I have often forgotten about clothes in the washer until a day or two later. By the time I realize there is laundry in the washer the clothes have a horrible musty smell. We also have a big problem with pool towels staying wet and getting moldy. You can get rid of the mildew and mold with this washing tip here. It doesn't take much of your time to clean a load this way and only takes a bit of vinegar.

Do Your Own Dry Cleaning
Skip the dry cleaners and dry clean your own clothes. You can't do every item, but there are so many that you can wash at home yourself. Not only do you save money, but you also don't have to drive to drop off and pick up the dry cleaning. This has been a huge time and money saver for me.
Clean The Dryer Vent
Does your dryer take forever to dry? You can shorten the time it takes with this simple trick. All of the lint builds up over time and slows down your dryer time. You can save so much money and time just by cleaning it out.
Get Rid Of Stains
I can't count the number of times that I have been removing clothes from the dryer only to realize that they are stained. I love my homemade stain remover. It does a great job of removing blood, set in stains, and even chocolate. Before you throw out that stained clothes give this DIY stain remover a try.
You Can Whiten Your Whites Without Bleach
A reader told me about this fantastic tip. You can easily whiten your whites without bleach. Mrs. Stewart's Bluing agent does a great job of getting your whites whiter. I tried it on a tank top with good luck and then used it on some of my dish towels.
I may never be great at doing laundry, but I have found a way to save most clothes from staining and save myself some money and time too! What laundry tips or tricks do you have?
Mom says
Monday is always laundry day. As soon as the first load is done it immediately goes in the dryer and a second load goes in the washer. When the first load is dry it is immediately folded or hung. Repeat. This procedure has worked for 47 years.
