Get the best picture quality from your tv. Check out how to clean the tv screen like a pro. Get your flat screen tv clean and looking great.
One of the things I loved most about our house when we bought it was our living room. It has a huge floor to ceiling fireplace. When we moved in I hated the idea of taking a beautiful fireplace and putting the tv on top of it. I felt like it would ruin the whole wall.
Although my husband wasn't thrilled, we ended up leaving the tv out of the living room and instead put it in our bedroom. I know it is kind of odd not to have a tv in the main part of the house, but we ended up loving it. We aren't tempted to just turn on the tv anytime. It works really well for our family.
Really the only downside to having the tv in the bedroom is our tv screen tends to get dirty really fast. I think it's because our dogs have their crates in our bedroom and spend most of their time in our bedroom.
The tv screen seems to attract their dog hair like crazy and fingerprints from my son eating popcorn and watching tv. Sometimes I feel like I need to dust and clean the tv more than I need to dust the furniture in our bedroom.
Taking the time to clean the tv screen is important. It may sound odd but think of all the money you spend for a crisp picture on your tv screen. You want to make sure that you are getting the best picture quality when you are watching tv. No one wants to watch tv when it has dust and fingerprints covering it.
Today's flat-screen TVs can't take the harsh cleaners that the older tube TVs could. Years ago I would just spray down our tube tv with Windex and clean with a paper towel. You don't want to do that with a plasma, LED, or LCD. It might tear up the tv screen. You never want to spray anything directly on the TV screen. Also, you want to make sure you are using lint free cloths on the TV screen.
Newer TV screens are more delicate than the old ones and you will want to make sure you clean the tv screen properly. With current TV's you want to take a little extra time to clean the tv screens right. Check out these great tips on how to clean the tv screen like a pro.
How To Clean The TV Screen
To start, you will want to have your tv turned off and unplugged when you go to clean it. By turning it off you give it a chance to cool down and you should be able to see the smudges and dust better because it is darker. Unplugging it will also help so you don't hurt yourself or the tv while cleaning the tv screen.
Start by wiping down around the edges of the TV and the base with a slightly damp microfiber cloth. I like these microfiber cloths from Amazon. They are very soft and durable. The microfiber cloths will help remove any dust or pet hair that is on the TV. Try to avoid the speaker area on the TV so you don't get any moisture in the speakers.
If you have any buttons that you regularly use on your tv you may want to go over them with a Lysol wipe to get them free of germs. Usually, at our house, we are using the remote most of the time so I only clean down the actual buttons on the TV during cold & flu season.
Now you can move on to cleaning the TV screen. If your flat screen TV is just dusty you can gently wipe it down with a cloth made for electronics. The cloth is gentle enough to use on the delicate TV screen to clean it and not leave any scratches behind on your screen. You can get a set of these cloths on Amazon to use for cleaning the TV screen.
Wipe the tv screen gently moving in a circular motion with the cloth. You don't want to press too hard or you may damage your screen. If you have any light fingerprints the electronics cloth should help remove the fingerprints too. When your tv screen isn't very dirty this should work great to clean most everything off of the screen.
If you have any greasy fingerprints or spots that just don't budge on your tv with the cleaning cloth then you can try the trick below from Samsung. As always I highly recommend you test cleaning your tv screen with this trick in a small corner. You don't want to risk damaging your screen!
Make a mix of dawn soap and water using 100 parts water and 1 part dawn soap. This would be about 1 drop of dawn soap in a 1/4 cup of water. Then use a soft lint-free cloth and dampen it in the dawn soap and water mixture. Gently run it over the area with the spots or fingerprints in a circular motion until the spots are gone.
Once the spots are gone use a dry soft cloth to dry the area and make sure it is free from any spots. This trick is awesome at getting rid of those bigger spots of grime on our tv screens. If you have fingerprints on your tv screen this will usually do the trick. You may need to clean the TV screen one more time if your fingerprints are really bad.
