Summer is just around the corner. Every summer I go from a nice clean car to a disaster of a car. Although I love having my kiddo around during the summer, I hate how messy the car becomes. Often I have a full car load of kids and all of their gear. I have figured out many things over the years to help keep my car a little cleaner and smelling better. These are a few of my favorite car hacks and tricks for summer.
My favorite way of using the last bit of candle is to put it in the car to make the car smell better. I just set it in the very back cup holder. As the weather heats up it melts the wax and keeps your car smelling great. I have noticed it will provide the car with a nice smell for about 1 month.
If you need a way to store supplies that your kids have you can use a closet organizer and hang it from the front seat. I recommend a small one so you can make sure it isn't larger than the seat and that you can still see around it. This works great for small toys, remotes, and DVDs.
I hate cleaning out my cupholders. Soda and Gatorade are always spilling in them and making a sticky mess. Make it easier to clean up with cupcake liners. If something is spilled you can just pull out the liner. You can usually find different sized cupcake liners for the different cupholder sizes.
Make sure you always have a spare car key with this magnetic key case. You can attach it under your car with a spare key. It's not fun getting locked out of your car in the heat, or even worse a kid getting locked in the car. For under $4 you can make sure that doesn't happen.
I love using essential oils in my car to make them smell better. It is so easy to make this essential oil car vent air freshener. It makes my car smell great and is easy to change out the scents. It gets rid of the teenage boy sweat smell in no time at all.
Having a trash can with kids in the car is a must! I hate having my car filled with old napkins and straw paper. I like these containers from IKEA. The lid closes to keep trash in and they are only a couple of dollars if you buy them at IKEA.
Make sure you have a small first aid bag or box in the car with you. We are always at the park or pool in summer and bee stings and skinned knees always seem to be occurring. It's nice to have the first aid gear you need on hand.
A picnic blanket can be great to have in the trunk of your car. I love this waterproof one from Amazon. Plus, if you are like me and have black leather seats it can be used to keep the seats and baby car seats covered when your car sits in the sun!
Keeping the car clean and comfortable makes my life so much easier.
