My kiddo went back to school about two weeks ago. It's always hard changing up the routine. Suddenly we have to start getting up earlier. Plus, instead of spending my days hanging out with him and doing fun activities together I have work and house things I need to get done. It's very tempting to get him ready for school and then lay around for a while.
Unfortunately, if I don't get moving I can find myself having a lazy, unproductive morning. By mid-afternoon, I will be cranky and behind on my list of things to do for the day. I am not naturally a morning person however over the years, I have found a few things that help me become more productive in the morning so I can have a better day all around. If you aren't naturally a morning person check out these 5 easy tips that will make you a morning person, even if you aren't a natural morning person.
Wake Up At The Same Time
If you are waking up at different times every day it can make it harder to get up. I have found that by waking up around the same time during the week and the weekend I feel more productive and am more likely to get up and moving right away. It helps my body know that it is time to get up and I don't feel tired and lazy. Try getting up at the same time every day for a week or two and see if it helps you feel better in the mornings.
Get Dressed And Ready
Don't lay around in the morning in your pajamas. This is a sure-fire way to make you feel lazy. Get up, take a shower, and get dressed for the day. I have found that once I am dressed and ready for the day I no longer want to lay around. I am way more motivated to start my day. By getting up and dressed right away you will be more likely to accomplish your goals for the day.
Make A Plan
Start your day by making a plan of everything you would like to accomplish that day. You don't have to have a fancy notebook or calendar. I like to use a lined index card to write down a list of everything I want to do. Then as I get the tasks completed I can cross them off. It's easy and inexpensive. You can always just use a scrap of paper to write down your task list.
Have A Routine
Come up with a routine that works for you. Maybe you want to get the kids fed and then shower or maybe you check emails and clean the house before breakfast. Figure out what works for you and then try to stick with it every day. When you have a nice routine you are more likely to stick with it instead of spending the day in your pajamas with the kids.
Make Over Your Mornings
Another great way to get productive in the mornings and start moving is to completely make over your mornings. Crystal Paine offers a great class to completely make over your mornings and feel more productive all day long. It's an easy 14-day course that helps you improve your health, find more time in your day, and invest more in your family.
