Inside: Spring cleaning season is just around the corner! Don't overlook these important spots in your home!
I love it when the weather starts to turn warmer. We can finally open the windows and let in the fresh air. But before I do that I like to give the house a good spring cleaning.
Although I do keep my house pretty clean, I have found some places tend to get neglected. These are my 5 don't miss spots when spring cleaning.
Air Vents & Returns
It is amazing how dirty the air vents and returns can become. I like to vacuum the vents and then check inside them.
It's always fun to see what fell down in the vent. I have found marbles, Barbie purses, etc.
You can see step-by-step instructions for cleaning the air vents here. This is also a good time to check the air filter in your furnace to see if it needs replacing.
Window Blinds
Before you open the windows this spring you will want to clean the blinds. Blinds tend to attract so much dust. There are a few ways to clean them.
You can take a damp microfiber cloth and wipe them down.
If you don't have a lot of time you can close the blinds and quickly vacuum them off with an attachment. I don't think it works quite as well, but it saves tons of time.
If your blinds are as dirty as mine are you may want to try my favorite way to clean blinds. In just a few minutes you can get your blinds clean and free from dust and grime.

Under The Sofa & Bed
Even if you regularly vacuum, the dust still seems to find its way under the bed and sofa. Under my bed is a little desert full of dust tumbleweeds. It doesn't help either that my little dog can fit under the bed.
He often drags things under the bed that he doesn't want to share with the big dog, like half-eaten dog treats (I know, it's so gross!).
I use a vacuum attachment to reach under and vacuum up all the dust and stuff.
If your vacuum attachment doesn't reach all the way under you may want to move the sofa. It only takes a few minutes to do, but it keeps the dust from flying around once you open the windows.
Under the Refrigerator
I know it takes a lot of work to move the refrigerator, but so much dirt and dust can build up behind them.
Not only will your house be cleaner if you dust under the refrigerator, but it helps it run better. Too much dust on the coils can have your fridge running inefficiently. You can use a vacuum to get all the loose dust.
You can also use a dryer kit to clean under your refrigerator. It makes the job a lot easier and will save you money each month on your electric bill. Check out all my favorite tips and tricks to cleaning under the fridge.
Mattress & Pillows
The mattress and pillows don't often get the cleaning they need. Just take a little extra time to clean them when you go to wash your sheets. It only takes about an extra 20 minutes to clean your mattress. Pillows can easily be cleaned in a machine. Everybody will sleep better at night knowing their mattress and pillows are clean.
I know spring cleaning can take some extra time, but I love that feeling of a clean house. What do you make sure to get done during spring cleaning?

I LOVE a clean house. I second the baseboards and fans. I don't notice these things often and they get really yucky quickly. I'd also add the insides of my kitchen drawers. In theory everything that I put in them is clean. However, some other things seem to sneak in!

These things are on my list, I make sure fans and baseboards are really good and clean!

Fans are a great idea! I hate when you turn them on and dust flies everywhere. 🙂

The blinds! The blinds! It seems like I just did them and they are already getting a little furry. I also love a nice, clean window track. Yep! Had my butter knife and rag out the other day getting all that gunk out. I should probably be better about those pillows too.

These are on my spring cleaning list for sure! All of these are musts for people like myself with allergies.

Yeah, it's that time of year again, isn't it? We're terrible about cleaning. We don't even remember to regularly run the Roomba we got as a gift.
But the nice thing about that device is that it can go under the bed. (Tile floors make things easier.)
Alas, it's been ages since I cleaned behind the fridge. And I really have to find out how to wash a tempurpedic pillow. I'm not sure it can go in the regular machine. Might just have to get ready to buy a new one. The current one is about 8 years old.

We received the roomba thing that sweeps and mops, I was never impressed. I think it took longer to set up than it did to mop it myself. However, the going under the bed to sweep sounds great!
