If you have pets you know how how annoying dog fur on the couch or sofa can be. Follow this easy and frugal tip to get rid of pet hair on the couch. With just a plastic glove and some water, your furniture can be pet hair-free in minutes.

how to remove dog hair from a couch

Am I the only one whose pets seem to think the furniture is all theirs? My dog is constantly lying on our couch or up against our couch. I have given up on making sure they stay off the furniture, but the pet hair everywhere drives me nuts.

I hate dragging out the vacuum just to clean off the couch. Then I heard about this great way to remove pet hair from furniture. It works great and only takes a few minutes. Check out how to get pet hair off a couch.

How To Get Pet Hair Off A Couch

Skip the wasteful lint rollers and no more hauling out the vacuum to clean the couch. With just a few minutes once a week you can keep your couch looking great.

This simple trick even works during the worst shedding times. It really is the best way to get pet hair off furniture.

Items you will need:

  • rubber glove (I prefer this brand from Amazon)
  • water
  • fabric softener, if you prefer (you can see how I make mine here)

I prefer to use just the rubber gloves and some water, but I know some people do love the fresh smell of using fabric softener.

If you choose to use the fabric softener to remove pet fur I recommend you spot-test your upholstery first.

Removing The Pet Hair

Step 1: Take your dish glove and get it slightly damp. If you are using a fabric softener add it to a spray bottle and lightly spritz the couch or sofa.

Step 2: Wipe your glove across the fabric of the sofa. The gloves attract all the pet hair and you can quickly brush it all off.

Step 3: Rinse the glove and repeat if necessary. The couch is pet hair-free in seconds.

Step 4: Rinse and wash the gloves off with some soap and water to remove any pet hair and body oils. Once they are dry you can store them for next time.

This is such a great idea! This is a MASSIVE problem for me. I have two cats and the second they get near the couch it's covered with hair! I have found that our mattress attachment for the vacuum works well, so I will sometimes detach that and just use it on the couch like a brush so I don't have to pull out the whole vacuum. A glove will be much better 🙂 Thanks for the tip!
